Sri Durga Limited Edition Print
Meditating on this mandala will help bring strength and creative consciousness
This yantra mandala was intuitively created. A yantra is a visual mantra (a verbal chant which is repeated - usually a positive affirmation). It is a symbol or icon - particularly of a goddess in geometric form.
Yantras are a particularly powerful form of mandala and meditating or concentrating deeply upon them can lead to the realisation of the higher nature embodied within. The word 'yantra' literally means 'instrument, 'machine', 'apparatus', or 'implement'. The yantra acts as an instrument for tuning in with consciousness, a spiritual machine for inducing states of meditation.
After I had created this piece, it felt like a type of yantra to me, and was very powerful energetically during its creation. So I took to trusty Google and keyed in ‘types of yantra’. And sure enough there she was. It turned out to be in fact a Durga Yantra.
Durga is a Hindu goddess and a symbol of the divine mother. In Sanskrit, Durga means “invincible”, as she also extinguishes evil by transforming it into harmony and balance in the world. This is a powerful yantra because it can create destruction, but for the sake of universal harmony. You may need to let something go before you can welcome in the new. The overlapping triangles invoke the element of fire. A fiery passion is necessary to destroy the old in order to bring forward new beginnings.
Durga was created as a warrior goddess to fight the demon Mahisashur who could not be defeated by god or man. Allegorically, she slays the harmful misconceptions we hold, offering us clarity of mind and spirit. The Durga Yantra assists in focusing upon the virtues of Durga, bringing us strength, feminine energy and creative consciousness.
All prints are limited edition fine art archival pigment print on acid free paper. This means that the inks used will not change colour over time & will last 80yrs + under archival conditions. Each print is signed, emboss stamped and numbered in a limited edition of 100.
All prints are reproductions of my original works on canvas. The original piece was created using acrylic paint and metallic pens on smooth canvas and measures 120cm x 120cm and is available for sale.
The print measures 30cm x 30cm (12" x 12") and comes beautifully mounted (16" x 16")
