Visit me at Marlay Park Craft Courtyard
I am so delighted to be sharing a space in this beautiful old craft courtyard of Marlay Park with ANU, Pure Natural Irish Handmade Beauty Products. We are based downstairs in Studio 7, and are open Tuesday to Friday from 11am-2pm and on Saturday 11am-3pm and Sunday 12pm-3pm. (Times may change seasonally)
I am there personally every Thursday morning and every second Saturday, but even when I'm not there, the lovely Caitriona from ANU will be there and you can come and see my original work and browse the prints etc. Send me a message via social media or this website if you want to check that I'm there myself on a particular day you're thinking of visiting. It's always lovely to have visitors!
Marlay is a beautiful park with 300 acres of serene parkland to explore, watched over by peacocks who can be usually be found in the courtyard or walled garden. There are coffee shops, and one excellent one run by Andras of Miller Cakes in the courtyard itself. He makes the most delicious cakes and the coffee is excellent. And to the other side of us is Liam the baker....Oh My... The smells that emanate from Liam's bakery are hard to resist...sour dough bread, cinnamon swirls and hot scones.
There are over 20 designers and artists working from the courtyard so it's a pleasure to browse around the shops and studios and see them at work. All of them welcome visitors.
On a Saturday, weather permitting, there is also an outdoor market which sells crafts and lots of food...you won't go hungry! Sometimes there's live music and other activities happening in the courtyard.
If your bringing the little ones, there are two fantastic playgrounds in the park, and also the most stunning walled garden tended by Marlay gardener Louise, who has the greenest fingers and has been working her magic for many years. It's a stunning garden, safe for the children to run around. There is also a small aviary in the back walled garden which is a little treat. And if you take a walk through the woods, you may come across the Fairy Tree, a place of magic and healing. Many notes are left on the tree, little trinkets and lots of dodies!
For the dogs, there is a dog park where your dog can safely go off the lead and have wonderful and interesting social interactions with other dogs! Always fun to watch.
There are two car parks, one at Marlay House (beside the courtyard) just off The Grange Road, and the other car park is at the far side of the park adjacent to the large playground, par three golf course and tennis courts. The Craft Courtyard is located through the arch adjacent to Marlay House.
If you're coming by bus, the 16 is the best bus to get and it will leave you right outside the entrance on the Grange Road.
Looking forward to seeing you in Marlay!
Patricia
