Frequently Asked Questions – Mandala Art, Meditation & Healing

Welcome to the Healing Creations FAQ page. Here you’ll find answers about mandala art, meditation, workshops, and original artwork by Patricia Fitzgerald in Dublin, Ireland. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch, I’m always happy to help!

What are the benefits of mandala art and meditation?
Working with mandalas, whether drawing, colouring or meditating,  is a deeply calming and transformative practice.
Many people experience:
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Greater mental clarity and focus
  • Lower blood pressure and a sense of calm
  • Increased self-awareness and emotional balance
Mandalas help balance both sides of the brain and support mindfulness, creativity, and inner healing. Over time, they can even help rewire negative thought patterns through neuroplasticity.

Can mandalas really support emotional healing?
Yes, when practiced regularly, mandala work can help you:
  • Access your subconscious mind
  • Release old emotional patterns or trauma
  • Develop self-compassion
  • Connect more deeply with your inner self
Many people find this process helps them become a calmer, more grounded version of themselves.

Do I need to be artistic to create a mandala?
Not at all. This work is about process, not perfection. You don’t need any artistic experience, just a willingness to explore. In workshops, you’ll be gently guided step-by-step. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already creative, you can engage at your own level.

What is the connection between mandalas and meditation?
Creating or colouring a mandala is a form of active (open-eyed) meditation. This makes it ideal if you:
  • Struggle with traditional seated meditation
  • Find it hard to quiet your mind
  • Prefer a more creative, tactile experience
You can also meditate by simply gazing at a mandala, allowing your focus to soften and your mind to settle.

How do I meditate with a mandala?
A simple way to begin:
  1. Choose a mandala you feel drawn to
  2. Sit comfortably with your back straight
  3. Place the mandala about an arm’s length away
  4. Gently soften your gaze and allow the image to blur
  5. Focus on the centre for at least 5 minutes
This helps bring your mind into balance and creates a deep sense of inner stillness.

Can I buy mandala prints or original artwork?
Yes, you can explore:
  • Limited edition mandala prints
  • Original paintings
  • Oracle cards, books, and meditation recordings
All artwork is created to bring peace, balance, and reflection into your space.
Browse the shop or get in touch for commissions.

Can I pay for artwork in instalments?
Yes, absolutely. If you feel drawn to a piece, payment plans can be arranged, making it easier to bring meaningful art into your life. Simply get in touch with me at [email protected]

 Do you ship internationally?
Yes, artwork can be shipped worldwide (with some regional exceptions). My paintings are already in homes across countries including the USA, Canada, France, Norway, and New Zealand.

Can I visit your studio in person?
Yes, you can visit the studio in: Marlay Park Craft Courtyard, Dublin
Opening times may vary seasonally, so it’s best to check ahead or send a message to confirm that I am there. You’re always welcome to come and experience the work in person!

What materials do you use in your mandala art?
A variety of high-quality materials are used depending on the piece. You are encouraged to explore your own creative process too,  mandala work is about discovering what resonates with you personally. I have created this video to explain what materials I personally use, but I am always experimenting with new things!
I've bought a limited edition print. Can you advise me about framing it?

Read my blog post here on the things you need to think about when framing your art print! In this video, I chat to one of my favourite framers, Cathal of Frames Etc. in Clondalkin and he runs us through the things to think about when framing an art print.
What happens in a mandala workshop?
Workshops combine:
  • Creative mandala drawing or colouring
  • Guided meditation
  • Mindfulness practices
You’ll leave feeling:
  • More relaxed
  • More connected to yourself
  • Inspired and creatively energised
Workshops range from short introductory sessions to deeper full-day experiences. You can see upcoming workshops here.

Is mandala work connected to religion?
No, mandalas are universal symbols found across many cultures and traditions, many religions and none.
You don’t need any particular belief system to benefit. The practice is open, inclusive and accessible to everyone.
