What will I get from engaging with Mandala work?
Creating, colouring or meditating on a mandala can be a very powerful experience. From the outset, you are balancing both sides of your brain, allowing your thoughts to flow more easily and with clarity. You immediately feel calmer and blood pressure is lowered..
You become more aware of your inner voice and how that is behaving. Are you being very critical of yourself? Would you talk to another this way? For many of us, the answer is probably not. By shining a light of awareness on this voice, you can begin to rectify it; to become self-compassionate. You can start to become your own best friend, and that is a powerful thing indeed. Instead of your default mode being to look for the negative both in yourself, others and the world in general, you can re-wire your brain so that it defaults to the positive. (neuroplasticity)
Taken to the next level, Mandalas are powerful tools for the expansion of consciousness. When engaged with very deeply or on a regular basis, you begin to delve into the subconscious mind, bringing any nasties lurking there up to the surface one by one for healing and release. This allows you to become the best version of yourself. It is a method of stripping away the layers of conditioning that you have taken on throughout your life and that do not serve you. It allows you to heal past hurts or traumas. By delving into your self in this way, paradoxically, you connect to something much larger than yourself. Regardless of your religious beliefs or none, mandalas have a powerful effect on the psyche. This is one of the reasons that they are found in every religion across the world across history. As the great philosophers have said time and time again - 'know thyself'.

Do I have to be artistic in order to create a mandala?
Absolutely not. This is all about process. You can take it to whatever level you feel comfortable with. I guide you all the way. In my shorter classes in libraries etc. (2 hours) you get to experience the calming effect of mandalas by colouring in your own pre-drawn mandala and some light meditation. I often give one day workshops which take the process to a much deeper level.

What has meditation got to do with Mandalas?
Drawing or colouring mandalas is in itself a form of open-eyed meditation. Often people can find it difficult to do closed eyed meditation, so this can be a wonderful tool for them.
People also meditate by gazing at an image of a mandala. It is a wonderful tool for the expansion of consciousness. You can find many prints to choose from in my online shop. These can be shipped worldwide. Choose one that resonates with you.

How to meditate with Mandala
- Choose a mandala that you feel drawn to.
- Sitting comfortably with your back straight with the mandala approximately an arms length away, gently gaze at the mandala, allowing your focus to relax so that the image gradually blurs.
- For about 5 minutes or longer, meditate on the centre of the mandala allowing its geometry to bring your mind into a state of balance. This is the space where the ego self becomes less active.
- Five minutes is a good minimum time to sit with your mandala, but longer is encouraged.
- When you feel ready, shift your awareness elsewhere and enjoy the deep inner equilibrium that remains.
I've bought a limited edition print. Can you advise me about framing it?
Read my blog post here on the things you need to think about when framing your art print!
In this video, I chat to one of my favourite framers, Cathal of Frames Etc. in Clondalkin and he runs us through the things to think about when framing an art print.

I'd love to purchase one of your original paintings, would it be possible for me to pay in instalments?
Yes of course it would. Just get in contact with me and we can arrange that no problem. Many people who have been drawn to the larger works have paid that way and it's a lovely way to look forward to something too! Visit the gallery page to view original pieces available.

I live in San Francisco, but I'd love to have one of your works in my home, is that possible?
Yes, I can ship worldwide. There are many original paintings now scattered around our beautiful planet...from France to the USA, Canada, Norway and even New Zealand!

I'd love to see your work in person. Do you have a studio that I can visit?
I am so delighted to be sharing a space in this beautiful old craft courtyard of Marlay Park with ANU, Pure Natural Irish Handmade Beauty Products. We are based downstairs in Studio 7, and are open Tuesday to Friday from 11am-2pm and on Saturday 11am-3pm. (Times may change seasonally)
I am there personally every Thursday morning and every second Saturday, but even when I'm not there, the lovely Caitriona from ANU will be there and you can come and see my original work and browse the prints etc. Send me a message via social media or this website if you want to check that I'm there myself on a particular day you're thinking of visiting. It's always lovely to have visitors!
Also my work is often on exhibition, and you can see current exhibitions on the Exhibition page.

What materials do you use to create your work?
I get asked this question a lot! And so I have put together a short video on the materials that I use. I hope it helps! As always, I encourage you to play, to find your own unique way with both materials and the mandala process.
