Scotia's Dream
Scotia's Dream
This piece was originally created in gold leaf and acrylic on deep edge canvas...I love the intensity of the gold. I had many dreams and synchronicity whilst creating this piece...it’s Ireland meets Egypt.
Scotia was an Egyptian princess who allegedly came to Ireland and is said to have been laid to rest in Country Kerry, very close to where my grandfather was born. Scotland is named for her.
You can also see the Celtic Torc or lunula in the painting, a ceremonial necklace of gold worn by the Celts. And interestingly, I saw many similar neckpieces in the Cairo museum when I visited there. I feel a huge connection to Egypt, and Ireland obviously too. I feel there to be an ancient connection between the two places.
The print measures 12 " x 12" (30cm x 30cm) and comes beautifully mounted (16" x 16")
