Twins Limited Edition Print
Meditating on this mandala brings about balance and a feeling of conncection to each other and to something higher than ourselves.
This piece is based on a very strong dream which I had and has stayed with me. In the dream, through a window, I see three women leave a church and come towards me to the house in which I am. I feel to be in India. The women are wearing hand woven shawls that feel to be Inca or Native American. They enter the house, and with them is a small boy dressed in saffron robes like a Buddhist monk. The small boy goes to the bathroom.
The women are in the room with me and take from their bag an ancient woven cloth which they place on the floor in front of me. The cloth is circular and on either side there is a very small baby or developed fetus. The babies appear to be two dimensional but very much alive and feel like guardians. The babies are connected by a beautiful mesh pattern that runs around the outside of the circular cloth. It is very beautiful and I am awestruck. The centre of the cloth is blank and the women tell me that I can paint whatever I feel to there and that it will heal.
The following night, I had another dream in which I am with my daughter and mother. We are watching wolves play fighting across a ravine. There are white wolves and black wolves. We are not afraid but absolutely awed by these animals and their majesty. The wolves stop and we understand that the white wolves are now on our path and we must move on. We know we need to keep distance, but are not afraid of them. We come to a beautiful clear turquoise lake where the water seems filled with light. We know that it is a healing place.
This painting honours those dreams. In the painting, you can see the babies, connected to a higher source and connected via the leafy patterns encompassing the mandala. In the centre, I merged the two dreams...you can see the church door and three figures outside. These could be the three wise women or they could be myself and my mother and daughter. You can also see the silhouette of a white wolf. The light above, this higher source contains two subtle figures, masculine and feminine. The Tao. All of nature embodies these masculine/feminine principals. The energy of this piece sees what is joined in the ethereal domain what has been separated in the physical domain, and wants to bring that balance through to the physical.
The print measures 30cm x 30cm (12" x 12") and comes beautifully mounted (16" x 16")
