Tending the Garden of the Soul Original Artwork
I loved creating this painting which was a playful yet powerful process. It has been created using mixed media and I love the effects of the overlapping of materials. It feels like wandering through and tending a very magical and mystical garden, with golden light imbuing the painting. Tending the garden in mysticism refers to cultivating one's inner spiritual life, just as a gardener tends plants. It is a powerful metaphor used across traditions (Christian, Sufi) to describe the intentional growth of virtues, awareness and a relationship with the Divine through practices like prayer, meditation, and self-reflection and creativity.
By tending to the garden of the soul, we open the doors of spiritual perception and transform our souls into a lush, fruitful spaces. We view the soul as a garden that requires nurturing, weeding, watering (grace) and sunlight (awareness) in order to flourish, rather than viewing it as merely being a static entity. I hope this painting reminds you to nourish your beautiful soul and to recognise all the ways in which you have grown throughout your life so far!
This original painting was created using mixed media on Fabriano paper.
