Hathor Visits Limited Edition Print
Meditating on this mandala brings a sense of divine connection and an energy of abundance, fertility and fecundity.
This piece was created from a very powerful dream in which I see the most beautiful scarab beetle of green and yellow with golden eyes and embellishments...it's simply stunning. I'm a bit shocked at first and then awestruck. The beetle then moves onto my face and begins to integrate itself into my self so that it's eye is my eye...on the right hand side. It feels regal and very special. Earlier in the dream there was a conversation about a special milk, a sacred milk.
When creating the piece, I could feel a very Egyptian energy and when the moon was complete, my paintbrush drifted up to create the sides. I then realised it was very similar to the symbol of the Egyptian goddess, Hathor. Hathor seemed to visit.
You can see a depiction of Hathor in the images. Hathor is an ancient goddess associated, later, with Isis and, earlier, with Sekhmet but eventually was considered the primeval goddess from whom all others were derived. She is usually depicted as a woman with the head of a cow, ears of a cow, or simply in cow form. In her form as Hesat she is shown as a pure white cow carrying a tray of food on her head as her udders flow with milk. (note the milk connection in the dream) She is closely associated with the primeval divine cow Mehet-Weret, a sky goddess whose name means "Great Flood" and who was thought to bring the inundation of the Nile River which fertilized the land.
Also in the dream, there seemed to be a man watching me. He did not help, but rather allowed me the space to do what I had to do alone and that felt empowering. There was a beautiful connection with this person. A harmony of energies.
