Essence Limited Edition Print
This painting depicts our unique divine human essence being dropped into the seed that brings us to life and holds within it our unique intelligence that can be brought forth through us in this lifetime.
"Entelechy" is a philosophical concept stemming from Aristotle's metaphysics and generally used to identify whatever it is that makes the difference between mere matter and a living body. Originally a notion concerning the actualisation of a substance's potential (and so a notion that easily fits into a naturalistic description of the world), in Leibniz'‘s hands it came to denote a non-material entity that is underlies the entire physical world. In each case, the driving thought is that something metaphysically distinctive must be present in all living bodies.
This differs from the rational materialist dystopian philosophy that we are mere machines with no purpose, nothing before and nothing after, nothing divine, which gives way to what we are seeing in the world today by way of posthumanism and transhumanism. My work refutes that world view and very much connects with the soul, the essence and the unique potential of each and ever individual. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, connected to the divine in the most amazing way. This painting depicts the divine essence being dropped into the human soul, that which guides us, that which we can grow towards. It is an essence that we must always always remember that we have within us, especially in these times where there are efforts to disassociate us from it.
All prints are reproductions of my original works. The original piece was created using watercolour paint, gold leaf and metallic pens on Fabriano paper.
